Tom Seidman is a West Coast filmmaker who was introduced to VR six years ago at a Bernie Sanders rally and immediately recognized it as a transformative technology. He has since created BardoVR, which is developing, in the long term, an interactive VR journey through the Tibetan Book of the Dead, and in the short term, a VR meditation program based on the principles of that profound text.
Tom graduated cum laude from Dartmouth College, subsequently attended the American Film Institute's Center for Advanced Film Studies, and for many years worked as a DGA assistant director for such filmmakers as Robert Redford, Clint Eastwood, and Peter Weir. He has been a mediator and student of Buddhism for over twenty-five years, studying with such teachers as Ken McLeod and Noah Levine. He has attended several meditation retreats, including the intensive 10-day Vipassana silent retreat in Joshua Tree, California.
